Veterinary Care For The Unexpected
Many pet owners have experienced the dreaded plight of needing urgent or emergency veterinary care. It’s often a frightening experience, but with reliable and trustworthy veterinary urgent care, it doesn’t have to be.
Kaua'i North Shore Animal Clinic is available for urgent services during our regular business hours. Here are some symptoms that may be cause for concern:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Lethargy
- Labored breathing
- Inappropriate urination
- Vocalizing while urinating (especially male cats)
- Decreased or no appetite
If you notice any of these symptoms, call us as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. Early intervention can often improve your pet’s ability to get well. You know your pet best, so when something seems off, don’t wait for things to get worse, give us a call.
Urgent Care can Build Upon Your Pet’s Wellness Care for a Faster Diagnosis
An established relationship with your pet gives our veterinary staff an advantage when treating your furry family member. By keeping up with your wellness visits, we will have that baseline of medical history that will allow your veterinary team to have a more comprehensive understanding of your pet’s health during an urgent appointment.
- Urgent Appointment: These appointments are made when our schedule is full. We will accommodate these patients between our regularly scheduled appointments. Pet owners should be prepared for a longer wait time while we fit Urgent Request Appointments into the schedule.
- Emergency During Business Hours: Emergency visits are reserved for patients whose condition warrants we stop scheduled appointments in order to immediately triage and stabilize the sick pet. For after-hours emergency service we have partnered with VetTriage to offer video telehealth services for both large and small animals. The VetTriage veterinarians are available 24/7 and will assess your pet on a live video chat for a small fee to determine if your pet requires simple monitoring at home or urgent care when we reopen. In the event of an emergency, they will give advice and coordinate to have you seen immediately when the clinic is open.
If you think your pet is sick and needs to be seen, reach out as soon as possible. Scheduling an appointment earlier rather than later can mitigate the cost of care, and early intervention can help your pet feel better sooner.
