Accurate Diagnostics for Earlier Intervention
When it comes to the health of our furry family members, diagnostics are one of the best ways to ensure the long-term well-being of our pets. As technology advances, our veterinarians can diagnose illnesses and conditions with increased accuracy and speed. Whether it means detecting a concerning trend identified during routine diagnostics or developing a treatment plan when your pet is sick, our veterinary team can get to the root cause of what is ailing your pet and quickly develop a treatment plan to help them.
Wellness and preventive appointments are also a great time to discuss concerns you might have about your pet’s overall health:
- Full-service In-house Laboratory: Our robust in-house laboratory allows us to run CBC, chemistry, digital cytologies, and urinalysis to get results quickly. For tests not run in-house our partnership with IDEXX reference laboratory and other outside laboratories allow us to run additional diagnostics not available in our hospital lab.
- Reference Laboratory: For tests not run in-house our partnership with IDEXX reference laboratory and other outside laboratories allow us to run additional diagnostics not available in our hospital lab.
- Digital Radiology (Full Body and Dental): Our digital radiology (X-ray) equipment can help us accurately pinpoint soft tissue and skeletal abnormalities. This allows our veterinarians to diagnose conditions such as fractures, bone tumors, masses, and heart and lung problems. X-ray images can also be sent to a radiologist for interpretation.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound: Ultrasound allows our veterinary team to obtain images of internal organs and detect things like; tumors, cysts, and free fluid. Ultrasound can also be used to diagnose animal pregnancy and heart murmurs.
- SNAP Tests: In-house SNAP tests allow our veterinary team to offer heartworm, parvovirus, leptospirosis, pancreatitis and feline triple testing.
- Tonometry: Allows us to measure the pressure inside your pet’s eyes and diagnose signs of eye disorders.
At Kaua'i North Shore Animal Clinic our standards of care are designed as a framework for diagnostic focused preventative care. To help establish a baseline and maintain your pet’s lifelong health, we recommend annual blood work for most pets. Senior pets and those with health conditions should be checked every six months. All dogs should be screened for heartworm disease every year.
Whether we’re detecting parasites or completing antigen testing, our commitment is to help pet owners find answers about their pet’s health and quickly find the best treatment options. Check out our wellness plans to learn more about the wellness diagnostics package.
